Coastal Chic
From the historic harbour town of Honfleur to the elegant resort of Deauville, the Normandy coast is celebrated for its striking shoreline and enduring maritime charm. It is a region that has long inspired a distinctive aesthetic, blending nautical elegance with relaxed sophistication.
Honfleur
Deauville
It is this spirit that Manuel Canovas captures in Deauville, a linen collection of classic woven stripes and a small check. The patterns are presented in a soft coordinating colour palette of greens, blues, yellows, and gently weathered reds. Each colour is drawn from the Normandy coastal landscape, from the architecture to the shoreline with its bobbing buoys, painted beach huts, and the classic striped deckchairs of the seafront.
Woven in a pure, naturally soft linen, these simple yet impactful stripes have a bold, graphic aesthetic tempered by an appealing washed finish that creates a soft handle for upholstery and a remarkable drape. Linen is renowned for its natural properties, grown with less intensive farming practices and requiring significantly less water than many other fibres. It is a fabric that improves with age, growing softer and more characterful over time. It is a responsible choice, as well as a beautiful one.

Rivage
Rivage was recently showcased at the Chelsea Flower Show as a striking canopy at the Country Life stand, designed by architect George Saumarez Smith. It was a vivid demonstration of the fabric's versatility, proof that a classic linen stripe can hold its own in an ambitious, contemporary setting.
Manuel Canovas Design Director Olivia Deruelle reflects on what makes the design endure:
"In this room, the design reads as a timeless classic stripe, subtly updated for a contemporary aesthetic. Inspired by the coastal charm of seaside hotels, its medium scale works beautifully alongside bolder wallcoverings, while the tented roof creates a wonderful sense of travel and escape. This design is proudly part of our collection of timeless linen stripes, crafted from natural fibres and designed to endure."
